Reading Rooms is a new experimental feature in Skyreader that lets you create shared collections of articles to read together with other people. The idea is to eventually recreate the experience of a book/journal club or syllabus where groups gather to read.
A reading room in Skyreader is a Semble or Margin collection you can join. You can create your own room or find or paste a collection into Skyreader to join the room:
A room shows who else is reading and adds the list of articles to your Home view so you can easily work through your reading queue. When you finish reading an article, you can mark it as read so the room can see how far along everyone has gotten.
This initial release is focused on just the basics: creating public rooms that share read status.
Next up will be a bunch of features that turn rooms into even more of a book club. This includes non-public Rooms (waiting for AT spaces to land), the ability to share notes/highlights with just the room, and ways to discuss your reading.
Try it out and let me know if this all seems interesting and what kinds of room features you think would be cool!
